Flu Clinic Update!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our mass flu clinic on 3rd October 2025, we vaccinated over 1,000 patients across both age groups (18–64 and 65+)!

And an extra big thank you to our amazing team who gave up their day to make it such a success.

We’re now running smaller flu clinics at the surgery.

If you’re eligible and haven’t booked yet, please make your appointment soon, once our vaccines are gone, we won’t be getting any more!

If you’ve received a text reminder but already have an appointment booked, please ignore it — our system only recognises who hasn’t yet had their flu jab.

Thank you for supporting your surgery and helping us keep our community healthy.

Why not volunteer as a RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme) Driver:

Many older patients face difficulties in getting to their health appointments. As a volunteer driver, you can help ensure they make it to their appointments safely and on time. This role involves picking up patients from their homes, driving them to the surgery, and taking them back home afterward. It is a vital service that helps maintain the continuity of care for these individuals.

If you are interested in volunteering, please speak to our reception care navigation team.

It was a busy month in September! Despite the surgery being affected by sickness, our teams pulled together brilliantly. We also had 10 ladies attend our HRTea and Biscuit session, a menopause-focused event designed to provide accurate information and support, helping you make informed decisions and better understand what’s happening during this stage of life.

If you’d like to join one of our future sessions, please contact the surgery, and we’ll make sure your details are passed on for the next invitation.

Our DNA (Did Not Attend) rate slightly increased in September.

There are many easy ways to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please remember:

When you don’t attend a booked appointment without letting us know, that time could have been used to help another patient.

If you can’t make it, please cancel or reschedule in advance — every appointment matters!

Great news!

Our DNA (Did Not Attend) rate more than halved in August from previous months, a huge step forward!

A big thank you to all our patients who let us know when they couldn’t attend their appointments. This helps us offer those slots to someone else who really needs them.

However, we’re still working hard to reduce our DNA rate even further.

Remember:

When you don’t attend your booked appointment without letting us know, that time could have helped another patient.

Please cancel or reschedule in advance if you can’t make it – every appointment matters!

Help us help more patients — please cancel if you can’t attend

Our “Did Not Attend” (DNA) rate has been rising, meaning more appointments are going to waste.

When an appointment is missed without cancellation, another patient in need misses the chance to be seen sooner. If you can’t make your appointment or no longer need it, please let us know as soon as possible.

If we have your mobile number, you will receive a text reminder before your appointment. You can reply to this message to cancel quickly and easily.

Together, we can reduce waiting times and make sure every appointment helps someone who needs it.

June Update from The Lennard Surgery:

It’s been a busy month here at The Lennard Surgery! Alongside our regular day-to-day appointments, our dedicated nursing team also run Saturday morning clinics for pre-booked appointments.

We were delighted to host another HRTea and Biscuits session for 10 wonderful women. This supportive event focused on the menopause journey, providing valuable information, advice, and a chance to connect with others experiencing similar changes. We’re proud to help ensure our patients feel informed and empowered about the options available to them.

Our GPs have also been going above and beyond, with an impressive 1,249 additional patient contacts.

We also received 109 urgent prescription requests. Our Prescription Team is busier than ever, so it’s now more important than ever to stay on top of your medication needs. Please remember to allow at least 3 working days when ordering your repeat prescriptions. Some pharmacies may have longer turnaround times, so we advise checking with your pharmacy to ensure you allow enough time for your medication to be dispensed.

Our Care Navigation Team has been working exceptionally hard, especially while covering sickness and holiday leave. They’ve continued to answer your telephone calls promptly, showing empathy and professionalism, while also managing patient triage submissions within dedicated timeframes.

Behind the scenes, our Admin Team has also been working tirelessly to ensure medical letters are added to your records promptly and to support our clinicians with both urgent and routine referrals, ensuring smooth and efficient patient care pathways.

Each department at The Lennard Surgery is working extremely hard to make sure our patients receive the best possible care. We truly appreciate your continued support and understanding.

Here’s to another month of teamwork and dedication – thank you!

May Update: Improving Access and Reducing Call Volumes:

In May, we received a total of 987 online Patient Triage requests, with 848 submitted between 12th and 31st May. This reflects a growing preference for using our online system to request appointments and clinical advice.

As a result, we received around 1,000 fewer phone calls in May compared to April. This has helped our team manage urgent, same-day demand more effectively, especially during peak times from 8:30 AM onwards.

We remain committed to improving access and ensuring that patients receive the right care, first time.

Are you 50+ and would like to make a Difference in Your Community?

Why not volunteer as a RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme) Driver:

Volunteering is more than just an act of kindness; it is a way to connect with your community, support those in need, and enrich your own life. Volunteering for your local surgery is a unique opportunity that helps General Practitioners (GPs) and nurses, makes a significant difference to the lives of patients, and offers personal rewards for the volunteers themselves. If you enjoy meeting people and sharing your time, this could be the perfect role for you.

Volunteering is a two-way street. While you are helping others, you also gain a sense of personal fulfilment. The gratitude and smiles from the patients you assist can be incredibly rewarding. Knowing that you have made a positive difference in someone’s life can boost your own mental and emotional well-being.

If you are interested in volunteering, please speak to the reception team who will give you an application pack and instructions on how to apply,
